Course Title: The ABCs in Ethics 2026-2027 Members Only

Course Description:

This course is designed to educate you in the ethics of the CPA profession as mandated by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy (TSBPA). The course will convey the intent of the board’s Rules of Professional Conduct in a licensee’s performance of professional accounting services. The course will help you apply ethical judgment in interpreting the rules and provide for a clear understanding of the public interest. The course will emphasize the ethical standards of the profession.

Learning Objectives

  • Achieve and maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct through ethical reasoning and the core values of integrity, objectivity, and independence.
  • Act in both the intent of the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy's Rules of Professional Conduct and not mere technical compliance. 


 

Instructor: Matthew (Matt) Herring, CPA 

Herring is currently a tax law manager with the U.S. Department of Treasury - Internal Revenue Service (IRS). He has more than twenty years in the international and transfer pricing tax program at the IRS and leads a specialist team of compliance and enforcement professionals. Matt has held both private and public accounting roles throughout his career, employed by Fortune 500 companies in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex specializing in areas of General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Treasury, and Financial Reporting. Matt has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Texas at Arlington and Texas Wesleyan University.
