"Bean Counter" - meticulous and detailed
What CPA stereotype do you defy?
"Boring" - I use my CPA license to provide a variety of creative services as well as outside hobbies.
Why did you choose to become a CPA?
The career path allows me to provide a specialized service to folks that otherwise would not have access to this information. I'm able to act as a trusted advisor, planner, and expert. This gives me a great sense of fulfillment.
What's Your CPA "superpower"?
I've worked my career to build a skill in storytelling with the numbers so any layman can understand. I can explain any number of complex accounting topics in conversational terms so that the clients understand the impact on their business.
What's something that you've done that has nothing to do with accounting but you're really proud of?
I volunteer my time as a 'scarer' at my local community theater's annual haunted house fundraiser.
What advice would you give to your younger self before taking the CPA exam?
I'd give myself the same advice that I already had all those years ago - don't wait.
